TV presenter, singer and former chippie(煎鱼土豆条店) worker
Kerry McFadden shows a fish meal at Rock and Sole Plaice, a
chippie in London’s Covent Garden, where the 2002 Fish and
Chip Shop of the Year competition began Thursday. Voting for
the contest, now in its 15th year, began Saturday. More than
250 million meals were sold in U.K. fish and chip shops last
year. This is a magnificent (卓著的) achievement (成就) for an
industry which has been part of British culture for more than
150 years. More than one in 10 U.K. adults visit a fish and
chip shop at least once a week.
