The Latest Album
ReviewOasis, a band from Manchester, is at the so-called
zenith* of their career and has been praised as the best band
in the world. I wouldn’t exactly agree with that assessment. I
almost forgot the existence of the band until I saw their new
album in a disc shop.Unfortunately, it’s hard to find
outstanding tracks on the CD for average listeners like me.
The nonsensical* opener, The Hindu Times, suggests to me that
their endeavor* is nothing but a hybrid* of a group of
disappointing songs. The task of the moody* ballad*, Stop
Crying Your Heart Out, seems to be to attact softies*, but it
proved a failure. We can’t talk about Oasis’ music without
talking about the Beatles. Oasis is obviously influenced by
the famous band. To tell you the truth, Oasis doesn’t seem to
be good student, or even a smart one, because they can do
nothing except repeat the familiar melodies which have been
popular since the 1960s. Songbird and All in the Mind are
perfect examples of this.Actually I don’t wanna go too far
because many youths idolize Oasis. I also don’t wanna complain
that I wasted money for purchasing the CD. But if you see it
in a shop someday, just walk away! Don’t hesitate in making
good your escape.
