More adults hire tutors in summer
FOLLOWING the increasing practice of hiring tutors for
children this summer, many adults are now hiring tutors for
themselves. The most favored courses were for the lute, chess,
calligraphy and painting, a Shenzhen Special Zone Daily report
said. The reasons for the increasing number of adult inquiries
varied. Some want to recharge their careers while others want
to pursue a hobby, the report said.Mr. Li, a company employee,
hired a tutor to teach him computer skills two hours a day
after work because his company was about to implement an
automated office system, with which he was not familiar.“It
works more effectively than a class outside,” Li said.Ms. Liu,
a middle school teacher, paid a tutor to teach her piano in
the summer vacation at a cost of 100 yuan per hour. “I admire
versatile people, including some of my students, and I think
learning to play the piano can be edifying and bring lots of
fun at home,” Liu said.According to the report, some
professional instructors in gyms as well as college teachers
were in demand in the past two months.A Mr. Zhao, a gym
instructor, gave swimming lessons to six people aged about 30.
Teaching three times a week brought him considerable
income.“The practice of white-collar workers seeking tutors
shows their aspiring attitude towards life and higher
spiritual pursuit which has become the vogue nowadays,”
Professor Song Zhongmei of Shenzhen University told the
Daily.(Peng Zhaoxia)
