My Favorite Album
ReviewRock’n’roll is sometimes too noisy and chaotic* for
people living in modern cities. Jazz is a nice alternative.
Some of the songs on this album seemed to have been influenced
by Bebel Gilberto’s Brazilian heritage and we are treated to
Latin-style rhythms and melodies. Thanks to the magnificent
but abstruse* language, the only thing you have to concentrate
on* when listening to this CD is the tone of the music.I know
little about either Brazil or Brazilians, but I’ve heard of
their carnivals*. “Crazy” may be the right word to describe
them. But Bebel is unexpectedly tender in her ballads. If you
are not drowsy* and relaxed after listening to this CD’s moody
sound, then you’d better check your speakers as soon as
possible. Her music is so relaxing that I almost fell to sleep
during the opening track, a slow samba entitled Samba da
Bencao. Bebel continues her hypnotic* crooning* with August
Day Song and Tanto Tempo.Bebel’s music can be enjoyed whether
you’re at home by yourself or hosting a dinner party. The
entire album is relaxing without being distracting, so it is a
good choice if you are looking for background music. For this
reason I give Tanto Tempo four and a half stars.
