A laughing baby
As the father heard those words he laughed heartily,
patted the usher on the back and said, “Just set your heart at
rest, lad. My boy only laughs, he never cries.”Having led the
couple to their seats, the usher left. The couple had gone
through so much in their lives and now had the“fruit of their
love”— Tomy. They were returning to the same cinema, watching
the same movie, Titanic, that they had watched together when
they first met. Probably some of the audience around them had
similar experiences. Some of them were sobbing and even
crying. Only Tomy, at first grinning, then chuckling, and then
laughing aloud, seemed to be happy. Understanding the baby’s
hint, the mother immediately put the soother into his little
mouth, which stopped the laughing. However, the boy was so
excited that he laughed even louder. The repeat of this
eventually drew the usher’s attention. But, what could he do?
After all, he didn’t mention that they’d have to leave if the
baby laughed. So, everyone endured the baby’s laugh till the
end of the movie. As the couple exited, the usher couldn’t
help asking why the baby was so happy. “You know, lad. Life is
hard. My wife and I have offered toil, tears and sweat for
today’s comfortable life. We want our baby to always be happy.
We changed some of his genes before he was born so that he
would never ever cry. The way he expresses his comfortlessness
is laughing.”
