A SWIMMER is seeking help for his paralyzed hand caused
by bites by an unidentified marine creature a week ago.Doctors
have been unable to treat the man’s wounds effectively. The
man, identified only as a Mr. Luo from Qilun Home Decoration
Co., said his right hand became numb when the hand appeared to
have struck something while he was swimming at Dameisha Beach
at around 11 p.m. last Tuesday. He tried to grab the creature
which he described as “soft and slippery,” and it bit him
again on the right wrist, and the whole right hand became
numb. His colleagues escorted him to the beach where a
lifesaver told them it was “normal” to be bitten by small sea
creatures. At the beach, Luo saw two small punctures on his
hand and wrist, each surrounded by a rash the size of a
coin.He was taken to hospital at 3 a.m. last Wednesday when
his wounds worsened, with his right hand shaking.A doctor at
Meisha Hospital prescribed some antibiotics for him, saying he
might have been attacked by a jellyfish. His hand was quite
swollen and necrosis had affected the tissue around the
wounds.Doctors were unable to prevent the wounds from
deteriorating.Luo finally went to the Shenzhen office of
Southern Metropolitan News Monday, hoping his story might be
read by medical experts who then might be able to offer
effective treatment and identify the mysterious
attacker.Reporters of the News Monday saw a discharge from the
wounds, which looked like burns on the swollen hand
