A STUDENT from Shatoujiao in Yantian District was recently
admitted to Cambridge University.
Li Mo, 18, went to the United Kingdom to study three years
ago. He has won many titles in various maths’ contests while
studying at the university’s Bedford School. His classmates
have nicknamed him the Chinese maths’ god.
“Maths played an important role in my admission to
Cambridge,” Li said.
He had two As in maths but a B in physics.
Li said Cambridge refused 3,000 students with four As on
average every year. His admission owed a lot to his
outstanding maths’ scores and his performance in many maths’
contests in the U.K.Li said he wanted to be an actuary in
future as China had few actuaries at present while the
nation’s insurance industry was developing quickly. He said he
should thank his parents, who are both master’s degree
holders, and very strict with his study. (Shao Jingfeng)
