CAR owners will pay less for parking, according to a new regulation released by Shenzhen pricing authorities Wednesday.The new rule, which takes effect from October 1, lowers parking fees in general. For instance, the monthly parking fee for housing estates will be 250 yuan (US$30). The fee set by the government is now 200 yuan for low-rise buildings but 400 yuan for high-risers.The rule also stipulates that car owners will pay only once for multiple entry and exit of the same parking lot within 24 hours.In the past, motorists have been charged according to how long and how often they used a parking lot.Parking lots affiliated with government organizations and other non-profitable institutions should not charge any fees.

     Commercial parking lots can decide their own appropriate pricing policy after it is approved by government pricing departments.The rule says motorists do not need to pay when parking in residential areas for less than 30 minutes, and in commercial areas for less than 15 minutes.It also stipulates that all the parking lots erect notices at the entrance and fee-collection booths detailing their parking fees, available services and complaints’ telephone numbers.
