AIRPORTS in Shenzhen, Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Zhuhai and
Macao have entered into an alliance which is aimed at speeding
up passenger and cargo flows in the region.
The five airports will hold an international conference on
air cargo in Hong Kong between September 17 and 20.The
conference, held to seek cooperation with big international
airlines, will attract 3,000-plus executives from
multinational giants such as Boeing, Airbus and FedEx, the
Hong Kong Airport Administration said Monday.
The five airports reached the consensus on forming an
alliance, to be known as A5, at the beginning of this year,
aiming to promote economic integration in the Pearl River
Delta region, the administration said.Under the agreement, the
five airports will back each other in case of emergency and
lobby governments to allow visa-free entries to Hong Kong and
Macao for participants of large scale activities in the delta
region. They will also strengthen cooperation in sea, land and
air transport to smooth passenger and cargo flows in the
region. <2001>(Li Jing)
