Everyday English with Chuck

Today’s commonly used American expression is “Let’s keep in touch”...which simply means, let us not lose contact with each other. Let’s communicate through some form of correspondence, periodically. E.g.—telephone, fax, e-mail, letter writing, post card, etc.

SAMPLE script IC: I’m leaving for Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore tomorrow.M: Really? Are you going alone?C: Yeah Sweetie! Leaving in the morning, and my assistant, Melody, is going with me. M: I really envy her having such a nice boss. (Smile!) I’ll miss you while you’re away.C: That’s mutual. Send me an e-mail at your convenience, Okay?M: You bet I will. Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do. Let’s keep in touch.

SAMPLE script IIM: It’s my pleasure getting to know you, Chuck.C: I feel privileged as well, Maggie, knowing you.M: When are you going back to America?C: I’ll probably go to Hawaii for Christmas, and I’ll send you a postcard as soon as I get there.M: Thanks dear! Here is my address. Let’s keep in touch.C: No problem.

SAMPLE script IIIC: I’m surprised seeing you here, Savannah. We’ve lost contact since I arrived back to Shenzhen from America.S: I know!! It’s been almost two years.C: Here is my mobile phone number. Give me a call when you’re not too busy.S: Sure thing. Let’s keep in touch.
