Tan YaoquanA GRADUATE from the famed ENSAD-PARIS (Ecole
Nationale Superieure Arts Decoratifs) and ECOLE BOULLE-PARIS,
Jean-Luc Boezio has been an interior designer for a number of
Chinese decorating companies. But recently, the French designer
decided to open his own business in Shenzhen, with his
newly-married wife from Guangzhou.A couple of years ago, Jean
went to work for a decorating company in Hong Kong, attracted
by the oriental culture. In the following years, he had a
colorful and drifting life on the Chinese mainland. During his
stay with a Guangzhou company from 1997 to 1998, Jean traveled
to a number of cities throughout the country, including
Xiamen, Beijing, Lanzhou, Urumqi, and now Shenzhen. However,
he has encountered a series of conflicts with his bosses or
colleagues in doing business. Where money and honesty are
concerned, Jean prefers to live with honesty. What upset Jean
most was that once one of his friends, a decorating company
head, asked Jean to help him by meeting with his company’s
clients. In return, the boss promised to pay him 10,000 yuan.
Jean was puzzled and stunned at first, but refused immediately
when he learned the reason. His Chinese friend wanted to use
him as a showcase to attract clients. Jean wants to create
some successful and influential projects in China. That was
the reason he decided to quit his former company and start his
own business in Shenzhen.
