A MAN has been jailed for six months and fined 1,000 yuan
(US$120) after DNA tests identified him as a thief.
The man, surnamed Chen, was a security guard at a food
company. Chen reportedly prised open the window of a company
office January 17 stealing 3,000 yuan from a strongbox and
more than HK$1,000 (US$128.3) from his employer’s purse.
The security guard’s demeanor and cuts to his face
aroused his colleagues’ suspicions the next day. Chen denied
any involvement in the theft.
However, blood was later found in the drawer of the
strongbox. Chen’s DNA matched the blood and he finally pleaded
guilty.
