ALMOST 10,000 Shenzhen students taking this year’s
National College Entrance Examination were enrolled by
colleges and universities across the country.
The number accounted for 90 percent of the city’s 11,376
examinees, yesterday’s Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported.
Students admitted to key universities, including Beijing
and Qinghua University, totaled 1,148 while 3,509 were
enrolled at other colleges and universities, the paper said.
To create opportunities for students whose marks were
high enough but were not enrolled, the Shenzhen Municipal
Recruiting Committee decided to allow the Shenzhen Information
College to enroll an extra 200 students, while the Shenzhen
Polytechnic admitted another 450 students.
In Guangdong Province, a total of 23,436 students were
not enrolled this year although their marks exceeded 460, the
set minimum for the province.
