Merchant insures
self for 12 m
A MERCHANT in neighboring Dongguan recently signed a
contract with Ping An Insurance Company, insuring himself for
12.05 million yuan (US$1.45 m). Surnamed Li, the merchant has
an annual income of over 6 million yuan and his total assets
are valued at above 12 million. He took out insurance because
his business kept him flying frequently, he said.
New school for kids with cerebral palsy
GUANGZHOU is planning to set up China’s first
experimental school for seriously disabled and cerebral palsy
children. With 52 million yuan provided by the municipal
government, the school is expected to open in two years and
take in 600 students. Each student will have his or her
private tutor at the school.
Police sued over
wrong photo
ZHUHAI Public Security Bureau has been taken to court by
a man whose photo mistakenly appeared on the bureau’s Wanted
notice. The victim, surnamed Zhu, is seeking 95,000 yuan in
compensation. On Tuesday, the judge suggested mediation, but
Zhu refused. He claims he was mistaken for a suspect who had
stolen his wallet with his photo in it and was detained twice
by Zhuhai police. The case will continue next
week.
