THE second generating unit of Shenzhen’s Ling’ao Nuclear Power Plant was integrated into the power network Saturday, three months ahead of schedule.

　　The plant’s first generating unit started commercial operations May 28 this year. Both units have an installed capacity of 1 million kilowatts.

　　Sources at the plant said there was no barrier to the second unit starting commercial operations before the end of this year.

　　Electricity generated by the two units would greatly ease power shortages in Guangdong and Shenzhen. The No. 1 generating unit has generated a total of 2.43 billion kw/h electricity so far.
