Al-Qaida suspects
KARACHI: An alleged organizer of the Sept. 11 attacks was
handed over to U.S. authorities Monday along with four other
al-Qaida suspects who were arrested here last week in a major
blow to the terrorist network.
The five suspects included Ramzi Binalshibh, a Yemeni who
allegedly wired money to the hijackers in the United States
and provided them logistical support.
Rockets fired
JALALABAD, Afghanistan: Two rockets exploded yesterday in
a compound housing the offices of the U.N. Children’s Fund in
eastern Afghanistan. At least one person was seriously
injured.
Peace talks
SATTAHIP, Thailand: Sri Lankan and Tamil rebel
negotiators entered the second day of landmark peace talks
yesterday with both sides agreeing that economic development
of war-torn areas would be the key to a lasting peace.
