YACHTING, diving and angling in the busy Pearl River
Delta are new attractions that can be easily reached from
Shekou and Xiangzhou.
About an hour's voyage by ferry will leave the hustle and
bustle of the metropolis behind and realize a dream of sailing
a luxurious yacht on the open sea under the blue skies off
Lingding Island.
The island is at the mouth of the Pearl River close to
the Hong Kong Special Administration Region (HKSAR) to the
north.
Lingding Island and the small islands of Sanmen, Miaowan
and Henggang surrounding it, look like a string of pearls
glistening in the South China Sea.
On these islands, you will be pleasantly surprised at the
beautiful scenery with trees and rock formations. You can swim
at the unpolluted beaches, have barbecues with delicious
seafood such as sea chestnuts, conches and fish, and collect
colorful shells.
Off these islands, there are also some excellent areas
for diving. The most outstanding one is off Miaowan Island,
where the water is shallow and clear with all kinds of marine
life.
Sailing a yacht, you will see the grand sight of the
Tsing Ma Bridge, which links Hong Kong International Airport
with Long Island and Nanya Island, in the HKSAR.
Lingding Island Marina Club recently upgraded its hotel
and set up attractions such as yachting, diving and angling.
Experienced coaches from Hong Kong will teach you these
activities in a short time.
Getting there
Route 1: From Shekou to the island departing Shekou at
8:30 a.m. Saturday, returning at 3:00 p.m. Sunday. Traveling
time: about an hour by ferry; fee: 150 yuan per person,
return;
Route 2: From Xiangzhou in Zhuhai Special Economic Zone
departing at 8:20 a.m., 14:30 p.m. and 16:30 p.m., returning
at 10:10 a.m. and 16:20 p.m. daily. Traveling time: about an
hour; fee: 150 yuan per person, return. Route 3: Yacht owners
from Hong Kong can sail directly from Hong Kong to the island.
Traveling time: About half an hour;
