At a Glance

  Weapons dossier

BAGHDAD: Iraq branded as baseless a British dossier of allegations President Saddam Hussein is pursuing weapons of mass destruction.

The British dossier released yesterday argues that Iraq continues to develop chemical and biological weapons, could develop a nuclear weapon within two years if U.N. sanctions were lifted, and has extended the range of its ballistic missiles. Little of the information appeared to be new.

  Premier League

LONDON: Chelsea squandered a chance of going second when it was held 0-0 by Fulham in the west London derby. Chelsea moved up one place to third while Fulham jumped two places to sixth.

  Basketball

NANJING, Jiangsu: Miao Lijie nailed two free-throws with 10 seconds on the clock and gave host China a 81-80 lead and a breathless win over Brazil in a classification game at the 14th Women’s World Basketball Championship yesterday.

China will play Spain for the 5th and 6th places while Brazil meets France for 7th and 8th spots of the 16-team tournament Friday.
