MORE couples are tying the knot before the National Day holidays, making the period the second peak for marriage after the May Day holidays, local marriage registration departments said.

　　The departments in different districts of the city found themselves busier than usual with the approach of the National Day holidays.

　　The registration center in Futian District had about 50 couples registering every day in recent days, four times more than usual. Some newly-wed couples said they chose the period as there was a long holiday ahead (seven days). It gives them enough time to prepare for the celebrations.

　　In Shenzhen, every district has a marriage registration center which provides legal marriage documents to newlyweds.
