Restaurant strike drama

　　EMPLOYEES of a small Guangzhou restaurant went on strike Tuesday while the boss, surnamed Liu, was on business trip in Sichuan Province having failed to pay monthly salaries. The employees suspected the boss had fled with money. Liu was forced to return to deal with the crisis Wednesday. The employees have resumed work.

　　Medicare for jobless

　　ZHUHAI Municipal Government will provide free medicare for laid-off workers in difficulty, putting on the same basis as employed workers. This is the first time a local government has accepted responsibility for medicare for laid-off workers.

　　3 million fry released

　　SOME 3 million sturgeon, carp and bighead fry were released into the North River in Sanshui, Foshan Wednesday. The fry, worth 180,000 yuan in all, will benefit fishermen in the district.

　　Pedestrian street

　　HUMEN Pedestrian Street area, the biggest township pedestrian street area in GD, is under construction. With an initial investment of over 360m yuan, the project consists of four streets lined with four-storey buildings.
