CHINA’S domestic airlines are installing bullet-proof
cockpit doors on all large jetliners.
Installation of the bullet-proof doors began in Guangzhou
recently. Each door costs US$29,000. China Civil Aviation
stipulated that all domestic airlines install the doors by the
end of next year.
Only pilots using secret codes will be able to open the
doors.
New Beijing Road
AN ancient section of Beijing Road under glass in
Guangzhou, will be open to visitors from today. The street is
a well-known business area in the city. According to official
figures, the road sees a daily pedestrian flow of about
200,000.
Legal aid broadened
GUANGDONG has eased its limits for legal aid coverage, a
notice issued on Sept. 29 said.
Under the new policy, laid-off workers and the jobless
will be covered by legal aid. The number of people eligible
for legal aid has been increased from the original 6 million
to 13 million, accounting for 15 percent of the province’s
total population.
