A LARGE sculpture unveiled in Shenzhen Central Park Friday
is a special gift from the La Vienne County Council, France,
to the Shenzhen Municipal Government.
The sculpture was titled “The Dynamic Man,” a work by the
French sculptor Francis Guyot.
Vice Mayor Zhuo Qinrui and a delegation from La Vienne
County Council attended the opening ceremony.
“Although there are cultural differences between China
and France and our working styles are not the same, we have
come to know and appreciate each other and learned to work
together,” said André Sénécheau, general councilor of La
Vienne County Council.
“We hope this sculpture, which stands for modernization
and peace, will become the historic witness of friendly
cooperation between Shenzhen and La Vienne,” said Sénécheau
who is in charge of relations between La Vienne and Shenzhen.
During his speech, he also recalled the main events of
cultural exchanges and economic cooperation since La Vienne
and Shenzhen established their relationship Oct. 28, 1994.
Last year, the La Vienne County Council began to send
their delegation to attend the China Hi-Tech Fair with great
success.
For this year’s fair, La Vienne delegation is made up of
six institutions and enterprises, hoping to carry out
extensive cooperation with Chinese partners in the fields of
distant learning, telecommunications, software, audio-visual
production, French gastronomy, fine wine and wood processing.
On behalf of the Shenzhen government and people, Zhuo
Qinrui extended his thanks to the La Vienne County Council and
the sculptor.
“To express our sincere friendship to the people of La
Vienne, we are planning to send a sculpture by a sculptor from
Shenzhen as a gift to the La Vienne County Council,” Zhuo
said.
