THE third anniversary of Shenzhen Virtual University
Park (SZVUP) was celebrated yesterday.
Located at the city’s Hi-Tech Industrial Park, SZVUP
serves as a platform for Chinese and foreign universities
exchange and work to industrialize their R&D achievements.
It also serves as an incubator for start-up businesses as well
as research and development and training bases for
universities.
Addressing the ceremony, Liu Yingli, vice mayor of
Shenzhen, said that SZVUP had churned out 7,559 master’s
degree holders and 382 doctorates. Liu praised it for its
capability in industrializing scientific research results and
attracting foreign education institutions.
So far, SZVUP has incubated 204 start-up enterprises. And
335 projects, 42 R&D centers and production bases along
with nine key laboratories have been established there.
More than 40 university presidents from the Chinese
mainland, Hong Kong and France attended the ceremony.
