Marriages on the rocks

JENNIFER LOPEZ and Cris Judd may not have had the greatest marriage, but they seem to be having an expensive divorce.

The US$12 million-a-picture actress-singer married Judd in a private ceremony in September last year. The wedding came just months after she broke up with hip-hop mogul Sean "P. Diddy" Combs, with whom she had a highly publicized romance.

Even though the marriage didn't last more than one year, Judd could have made trouble for her.

Insiders said Lopez so believed their love would last that she never asked Judd to sign a prenuptial agreement, which means that the dancer-turned-choreographer can claim half of the money that Lopez raked in during their nine-month marriage.

Having choreographed her NBC special and collaborated on songs, Judd could have hired a tough lawyer to argue that he was instrumental in her success and thus was entitled to half her wealth.

Lopez is expected to lodge divorce papers in a California court after agreeing to split some of her fortune with the dancer.

A source said that they already have a deal in place to divvy up their marital assets, which include a US$9.5 million mansion in Miami Beach and an estate in Los Angeles.

What's worse, a dozen of agents and publishers are beating a path to Judd's door seeking an intimate book about life with Lopez -- what she's like in bed, the real story about her affair with Sean "P. Diddy" Combs, her first marriage to a Puerto Rican busboy, and so on. They're whispering figures in excess of US$1 million for U.S. and European rights.

Of course, Lopez is very worried about all this and is huddled with lawyers to work out a way to buy Judd's silence, no matter how expensive.

Lopez is currently being comforted by Ben Affleck -- they were seen strolling through New York's Tribeca area and stopping off at a deli to make some purchases, while Judd has been spotted drowning his sorrows at numerous showbiz hangouts.

While another Hollywood's powerful woman Angelina Jolie is set to suffer more pain because of estranged husband Billy Bob Thornton -- with the removal of her tattoos.

The Girl, Interrupted star has a mass of body art proclaiming her love for the wayward Monster's Ball actor. But these very visible declarations of devotion have become a major embarrassment to Jolie now that their bizarre union is over.

But friends say the Tomb Raider actress will go through any amount of pain to erase the tattoos and Billy Bob from her life.

One says, "Angelina's so distraught after Billy Bob walked out on her, she wants to clear him from her mind and body. She's prepared to do whatever it takes. Even if it means going through the pain barrier."
