Experts lay eco plans
Han XiminWORLD-RENOWNED ecological experts from home and
abroad attending the Fifth International Eco-city Conference
offered valuable advice for Shenzhen’s development on
practical issues like water pollution treatment, energy using
and ecological neighborhood construction.At a round table
dialogue between experts and local entrepreneurs yesterday on
eco-building development, Ian Douglas, chairman of
Commonwealth Human Ecology Council (CHEC), U.K., suggested the
city adopt an integrated method to manage pollution in the
Xinzhou and Shenzhen rivers. “Water pollution can be
eradicated,” said Douglas, citing the Thames River in U.K. as
an example. The method includes removing factories and
residential buildings from riverbanks along with effective
