  HIV cases on the riseGUANGDONG has the fourth highest number of HIV carriers in China, according to information released at the provincial anti-pandemic planning conference Tuesday. The provincial workers’ union and women workers’ committee will launch a joint campaign to educate female migrant workers about the disease. A survey has shown frequent engagement in pre-marital sex among the women enabling the spread of the disease.The survey showed 50 percent of factory workers and 80 percent of service industry workers have had sexual experiences.Tourists compensatedSEVEN tourists were recently granted compensation of some 2.9m yuan (US$351,000) by the Baiyun District Court after their bus fell into a valley on a tour to Mount Baiyun. The accident left one tourist dead and more than 10 injured. The highest amount, 52,000 yuan, was awarded to a seriously injured tourist. During the hearing, the defendant travel agent unsuccessfully tried to shift responsibility to the bus owner. Dogs forbidden in public GUANGDONG Province has banned dogs from public areas such as schools, shopping centers, gardens and public transport. Those who break the rules could be fined as much as 1,000 yuan. The maximum fine now is 200 yuan. Dog owners will also be punished if their pets injure others.
