DISTRICT officials in Shenzhen will have to face audits in the second half of this year, local Chinese-language newspapers reported yesterday.

　It is the first time officials at district level will be reviewed for any irregularities in their work.

　A total of 18 directors or directors-general at municipal level were audited in the first half of this year.

　Imprudent decision making, tax evasion and under-the-table transactions are among the major problems found during auditing, media reports said. (Hu Zheye)
