IT was easy to interview Brent Deverman because he can speak Chinese.

　Brent is from Michigan in the United States. He said he had a particular feeling for China which encouraged him to choose Chinese as his major at university and subsequently to attend Qinghua University to improve his Chinese.

　With fluent Chinese, it was naturally a priority for Brent to find a job in China.

　After working in Beijing for some time, Brent moved to Shenzhen two years ago.

　He now works for a watch manufacturing company in Shenzhen set up by a French businessman. He is in charge of computers and software, work that seems tailored for him as he also majored in electronics at university.

　Together with some partners, he has set up a Web site called SZparty.com, which has attracted 500 members, the majority of whom are foreigners working or living in Shenzhen.

　At the age of 25, Brent doesn’t place much emphasis on money, but he is impressed with what he called the overnight wonder of economic development in Shenzhen.

　He said his time in Shenzhen will leave him with a deep impression and experiences he will always remember.
