HIGH-TECH output value in the first eight months surged 27.17 percent year on year to reach 101.56 billion yuan (US$12.29 billion), according to figures released by the Shenzhen Municipal Science Bureau.

　　Electronics and IT output value accounted for the bulk of the total, reaching 90.18 billion yuan. Official statistics showed Shenzhen’s high-tech sector has been stepping up its momentum in recent years. Last year, the sector grew about 20 percent over the previous year and showed further momentum this year.
