leads living environment
GUANGDONG has taken the lead in comprehensive living
environment in the nation, a recent report released by the
Guangdong Provincial Construction Office said.
Some criteria for the living environment in the province,
such as urbanization level, housing construction and planned
investment, are taking the lead in the country.
The province has a density of 88 towns and cities per
10,000 square kilometers.
To last year, Shenzhen and Zhongshan each has won the
Best Place for Living Award from the United Nations. Foshan,
Guangzhou and Zhuhai have also gained their single item award
in the living environment, making Guangdong the most awarded
province in the country. The report also showed a great
increase in construction investment in the province last year.
However, the province has a poor record in handling its
pollution, especially waste materials and water pollution, the
quality of which is below the national average, said the
report.
