No prosecution

　　PRETORIA: South African officials said Sunday they would not prosecute Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson on indecent assault charges, and described as “ridiculous” 21-year-old Nadia Abrahams’s claims that he repeatedly grabbed her leg as she gave him a lift to his hotel.

　　ZOLDER, Belgium: Italian veteran Mario Cipollini came out of retirement to win his first world championship road title with a superlative sprint finish Sunday.

　　Cipollini announced his retirement in July after he was not invited to the Tour de France, but reconsidered his decision two months ago.

　　On Sunday, Viktoria Klimina of Russia set a course record in the Ocean State Marathon in Providence, , Rhode Island, finishing in 2 hours, 28 minutes, 30 seconds. The previous mark of 2:30:28 was set last year by Tatyana Pozdnykov of Russia.
