Software to optimize network
|
Liu Fuzhong
OVER the past few years, China has seen very fast increase in the number of fixed-line and cell phone users. A large phone network is already in place allowing people to stay in touch virtually anywhere in the country.
However the voice quality carried on the network is not always reliable, giving scientists and telecom equipment developers a new task to planning and optimizing the network.
Shenzhen-based ZTE Corporation, China's leading telecommunications equipment manufacturer, has come up with a new software package PlanMater to plan, manage and optimize telecommunications network.
The new software platform integrates engineering design, geographical information, surveying databank, analysis and optimizing models, to offer a whole package of applications for telecommunications service operators to plan
, design and manage their networks.
According to the engineers with ZTE, network planning and administration is an integrative and systematic engineering project. The operator has to take into consideration the carrying capacity and users' demand on the network, according to engineers.
With the software, telecommunications service operators are able to digitally graph the position of their base stations, surrounding terrain and users' distribution. With this information the software will come up with the optimal plan for network design and layout.
The software is also able to determine the best frequency and disturbance avoidance solutions.
The software is based upon the company's long experience in network engineering and merits of similar products overseas, the engineers said.
