China develops application server
|
Zhou Jianchuan
LOOKING back to a few months before, China has not yet developed its own middleware, which is a kind of software running on the platform of system software and used to develop various application software. The market is traditionally occupied by foreign products such as BEA's Weblogic and IBM's Websphere. Nevertheless, Shenzhen-based Apusic Software Co Ltd, a subsidiary of Kingdee, showed to the public the first case of made-in-China application server.
According to engineers with the company, Apusic Application Server is, technically speaking, a kind of middleware based on J2EE (Java2 enterprise edition) special specification, an open law allows the server or, in other words, the middleware, to be compatible with most system software. This friendly compatibility enables a user to operate and maintain only one application server despite the variety of platforms.
The server is a useful tool for developing application software in the fields of finance management, cyber reservation, e-commerce and many others, as the engineers introduced.
Apusic's Application Server is the first middleware product that China has the self-owned intellectual property. "Undoubtedly it is much cheaper than foreign products, and safer as well," said the company's chief technology officer, "What's more, we provide close and immediate service."
