Literary prizes go to women
|
FOUR literary works of local writers have won the Sixth Guangdong Excellent Children's Literature Prizes, according to a recent notice from the Guangdong Provincial Writers' Association.
Flower Season, Rain Season by Yu Xiu, a graduate from Yucai Middle School in Nanshan District, won the highest prize, the Honour Prize. Days by Yan Aici, Five-coloured Sheep by Su Manhua and Sentiments of Zhao Xiaojun by Zhang Limin each won an Excellency Prize.
The winning writers are all female, but not by coincidence. According to insiders, the six professional writers registered at the local writers' association have all been females. As the local literary society has always been the stage of women writers, people have long been calling for the participation of men writers. (Dawn Li)
