AT 10.45am on Wednesday, Placido Domingo, one of the world-renowned Three Tenors, arrived in Shanghai to prepare for his solo concert in the city.
He arrived a day ahead of schedule, which, according to him, due to several reasons: firstly, he will be 60 years old on January 21. He thought Shanghai concert would bring him good luck; secondly, he wanted to meet the teacher of his two Chinese students: Liao Changyong and He Hui. He said that only a great teacher can bring up such excellent students.
In the afternoon, he visited Shanghai Grand Theater before the news conference held there. At the sight of the huge concert bill in front of the theater, he was as happy as a child.
At 2pm, Domingo, in green shirt, dark green trousers and a leisure suit with yellow and green checks, entered the venue, smiling and waving to the journalists.
He told the journalists with confidence: "I am eager to show my good voice."
He also introduced Liao Changyong and He Hui to the journalists, who will perform in his concert as guests.
The tickets for his concert today, some are as high as 3,000 yuan, were all sold out ahead of time.
