Juventus held to highflying draw

JUVENTUS' Filippo Inzaghi and Fiorentina's Enrico Chiesa each scored twice on Saturday as the Italian soccer league contenders battled to a highflying 3-3 draw.
The Turin squad, currently second in Italian Serie A, floundered a chance to notch an inspirational comeback win that would have put the pressure on league leader AS Roma, which travelled to play a feisty Atalanta yesterday.
Juventus (6-6-1) fought back from a two-goal deficit to take the lead in the 57th minute on Inzaghi's second goal in a nine-minute span, a spectacular volley shot off past his national squad teammate Francesco Toldo.
But the hosts could not hold the lead, as Chiesa notched his second goal in the 63rd, curving a low, 25-metre free kick around the defensive wall and into the right corner.
Fiorentina (5-6-2) moves into a tie for fourth place with defending champion Lazio, which hosts Napoli yesterday.
Juventus, coming off a tough 0-0 road draw against Roma, moves five points behind the leaders with Saturday's results.
Chiesa, now with eight goals in his last five league and Italian Cup games, opened the scoring in the fifth minute, following up on are bounded Rui Costa pass with a right-footed blasted from close range.
Rui Costa's fellow Portugal national team star, Nuno Gomez made it 2-0 in the 18th, collecting a cross from Paolo Vanoli and blasting a shot into the right corner past Dutch 'keeper Edwin Vander Sar.
Juventus captain Antonio Conte began the northern powerhouse's comeback, knocking in a loose ball after defender Moreno Torricelli was unable to clear.
Inzaghi drew the hosts even three minutes into the second half, drawing a foul from Toldo, and converting the penalty kick for his 80th career goal in a Juventus uniform.(SD-Agencies)
