Grand Dream of Dunhuang

A DANCE drama, Grand Dream of Dunhuang, will be staged at the Shenzhen Grand Theatre on Wednesday.
The drama was created by the Lanzhou Dancing and Singing Troupe last year to mark the 100th anniversary of the finding of the Dunhuang relics in Gansu Province. It tells a tragic love story with the Dunhuang culture as the background.
A young painter, Mo Gao fell in love with Yue Ya, the daughter of a general. However, Yue Ya paid her life for the love, and Mo Gao finished his paintings in deep grief.
Famous dancers Liu Zhen and Liu Jing play the leading roles of the drama. Liu Jing is not an unfamiliar name to Shenzheners, she also plays the heroin in a local dance drama: Shenzhen Story: Pursuit.
Having been staged in cities as Beijing and Shanghai for over 30 times, the drama will not only bring a beautiful love story, but also the colourful western minorities' custom to Shenzheners.
