Ming and Qing style furniture show
|
FOR Shenzhen antique lovers, they still have two days to appreciate the antique furniture on show at Shenzhen Museum, which is said to be the largest of its kind ever held in the city.
Throughout the history of Chinese furniture, those made in Ming and Qing dynasties are the most fully developed and artistically achieved.
Antique furniture pieces are fastidious about selecting materials and of excellent workmanship. Furniture pieces on show are made of goat willow, nard and blood woods that are rare hardwood furniture-making materials. Various handicrafts are adopted to make the surface and to display the colour and quality of the wood itself.
Chairs, cabinets, tables and beds of elegant style take viewers back to ancient China. The sponsors are delivering a message that simplicity and nature is the trend for furniture making and interior designing. And the exhibition is no different than blowing a fresh air of ancient elegance to the present modern but messy culture mode.
Co-sponsored by the Shenzhen Art Hall Industry Co Ltd and Shenzhen Museum, the show will end tomorrow.
