Concerns raised at IT summit
|
THE two-day Shenzhen IT Development Forum, a local summit of IT firms, ended yesterday with concerns raised about the city's future development in IT industry.
Senior Vice-President of ZTE Corporation said that lack of well-trained IT professional will be the biggest bottleneck constraining IT development in the city. He pointed out that attracting and maintaining talents will become one of the priorities for many companies in the new year.
President and CEO of Liming Networks said that local firms are also under a lot of pressure to develop new technologies and improve creativity.
Vice-Secretary-General of Shenzhen Municipal Government Liu Yingli said that the government will create a good environment for the healthy growth of IT companies. But he also urged local IT firms to develop new technologies and establish technology property ownership. The percentage of self-owned technologies is still low despite the many technology products developed in the city, he said.
The forum was aimed at understanding the current status of local IT development and outline future targets. The city aims to be a centre of information product manufacturing, technology development and IT talents in Asia. (Lizzie Zhang)
