First Cat gets the boot

NOW it looks like Buddy and Socks, the First Pets, are heading for Splitsville as US President Bill Clinton is going to say goodbye to the White House.
Socks, the black-and-white cat who never much liked Buddy the chocolate Labrador, is expected to be adopted by Betty Currie, secretary to US President Bill Clinton.
Irrepressible Buddy will get to live the good life, dividing his time between the Clintons' US$1.7 million estate in New York, and their new US$2.85 million mansion on Embassy Row in Washington.
The 9-year-old cat — who received hundreds of admiring letters during his two terms in the White House and even had his own fan club — instead will live in Currie's suburban Virginia home.
It may be a letdown for the first cat, perhaps the most famous White House cat ever. Socks helped Hillary Clinton raise money for charity by starring in her book Dear Socks, Dear Buddy: Kids' Letters to the First Pets.(SD-Agencies)
