Graduate school entrance exams
GRADUATE school entrance exams will be held from tomorrow through next Monday. Universities in Guangdong Province are to recruit 33.5 per cent more students than last year, according to a plan of the National Ministry of Education.
Statistics show that over 130,000 people in the province and 6,000 more from other regions have registered for this year's exams.
Law competition
A LAW and anti-drug abuse knowledge competition for primary and middle school students was completed in Luohu recently. At the award-giving ceremony held in Wenjin Vocational School, 16 schools and 254 individuals were named winners.
Nearly 30,000 sixth-graders and above in the district participated and parents of sixth-graders were encouraged to help in a purpose to extend law education.
New teaching method
DONGHU Middle School was appointed on Tuesday as a national experimental base for enlightening teaching. Starting from next semester, teachers in the school will be required to adopt a new teaching method. Instead of cramming the students with teaching materials, they are supposed to encourage the participation of students in the teaching process by preparing adequate questions to bring out their full potential.
Located in Luohu District, Donghu Middle School was established only last September.
