Non-tariff measures
STARTING from today, China will reduce non-tariff measures concerning the import of 22 categories of electrical and mechanical products. These products include snow mobiles and golf carts of different types, sources from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Co-operation said yesterday.
Oil price cut
CHINA on Saturday reduced the prices for gasoline and diesel oil by 130 yuan and 335 yuan per tonne, respectively, according to a notice issued by the State Development Planning Commission.
This is the second cut in a month. The notice demands China's major oil suppliers to set retail prices for gasoline and diesel oils in line with the actual demand and supply in various localities.
Shenzhou II
BEIJING: China's unmanned spacecraft "Shenzhou II" is now operating in good condition and carrying out preset astronomical experiments in line with the original plans. Sources with the Beijing Aerospace Directing and Controlling Centre said on Saturday that the Centre has successfully directed and monitored the spacecraft to circle around the Earth for 60 times. Experiments on space life environment, space materials, space astronomy and physics, and voice transmission have been conducted.
Troops cut
MOSCOW: Russia will cut down its interior troops by 33,000 men as part of a general 600,000-people reduction plan for the armed forces and other troops under a Russian Security Council decision, a senior Russian Interior Ministry official said on Friday.
