Making sea safer
SHENZHEN has set the goal of completing, within five years, an integrated system to efficiently respond to possible maritime accidents and pollution spills.
According to the plan, which was under review on Monday, the city will build new radar facilities and upgrade ship transport management systems in both eastern and western SZ. The city will also put two new patrol ships in service, along with six high-speed launches and two helicopters.
The local government also promised increased funding for the project.
Illegal agencies
LOCAL public security authorities say that over half of the agencies offering procedural services for people going abroad operate without a licence.
A recent overhaul by the city's public security, labour, education and business regulatory authorities found over 30 agencies with illegal or out-of-scope operations.
Authorities say that they will step up efforts to regulate the market. But they also warn consumers to be careful in choosing agencies. (SD News)
