THE World Bank will extend a loan worth US$ one million to assist the city's research in integrated development of transportation and sustainable development, according to sources with the municipal tranportation and finance bureaus.
It is the first time the World Bank has financed transportation research programmes in China.
Two research projects contained in the programme, "Sustainable Development in Integrated transportation" and "Reform in Management Systems and Organizational Institutions for Integrated transportation", will soon be launched.
The research will cover strategic planning of the city as a logistics centre, public transport and long distance passenger Transport hub. The research will also focus on transportation management and financing.
The research is expected to last four years.
