Subway all set for kick-off
|
NINE contracts involving one billion yuan were sealed on Wednesday to make things ready for the start of construction on the city's subway system.
Sources say the first phase of the project will kickoff right after the Spring Festival.
The project is the first national key project to be built in Shenzhen.
New procedures were implemented to select bidders for the eight construction equipment acquisition contracts, the first time in China's history that an equipment acquirer was selected through public tendering.
Also noteworthy was a "clean act promise" contract signed between the parties involved and the Shenzhen Procuratorate.
Mayor Yu Youjun, who also attended the signing ceremony, urged all parties involved to do their utmost to accomplish the project on schedule with high efficiency and quality.
The subway system is the largest, most heavily invested project in Shenzhen's history, according to the mayor. (Liz Lin)
