DaimlerChrysler slashes jobs
WASHINGTON: DaimlerChrysler, one of the world's largest automobile makers, announced plans on Monday to cut 26,000 jobs over three years at its US-based Chrysler unit in an effort to pull Chrysler out of the red. The cuts, part of a sweeping restructuring and accounting for 20 per cent of Chrysler's work force, involve 19,000 manufacturing jobs and 6,800 white-collar jobs.
