Two dead in car crash
|
THE driver of a Mitsubishi jeep suddenly lost control of the car along Huaqiang Road North and knocked down seven people, leaving two dead and five injured at 12.40pm on Monday.
Within five minutes of the accident, policemen arrived at the scene. They found that the victims include three adult women, two men and two children. One man and a woman were killed. Another woman received a serious head wound and was rushed to hospital immediately.
A witness said that he saw the vehicle rolled out of a parking lot at 12.28pm with a man aged around 30 at the wheel. It stopped at an eatery for a while, and then, after four more people coming aboard, it suddenly accelerated and someone was heard screaming.
Another witness said he saw a blue jeep dashing across traffic and striking pedestrians.
Mr Yin, one of the five injured, used an old Chinese saying to express himself when interviewed by saying he had got a "life after surviving a disaster". Being hurt himself, he also witnessed the two deaths.(John Woo)
