Shedding holiday weight
|
SINCE many body-building centres were closed for the holidays, many fitness fans have been itching for a workout. As the week-long Spring Festival holiday ends, they are swarming into gyms, lifting weights and sweating to the music, in hopes of shedding the weight gained during the holidays.
"I love exercise and it has been an integral part of my life. If the gyms hadn't been closed for the holidays, I would have liked spending my Spring Festival there," said Miss Xue, a local sports fan.
Mr Wang, a body-building director with a sports club, says that many people tend to put on weight and lose physical strength by overeating and undersleeping during the holidays.
Faced with this annoying truth, Miss Xing, a clerk, resumed her exercise plan right after the festival.
Patting his swelling belly, another exerciser said he would keep on exercising until his big stomach was gone.
Not just gyms are seeing a surge in visitors desperate for exercise. Many people are heading outdoors to hike and climb moutains in the fresh air.
But with all the hard work going into exercising, experts say it's always much easier to just not gain weight in the first place.(Alfred Zhang)
