Young authors awarded
OVER 10 young writers were awards for excellence in the "rain season, flower season" juvenile reading activity on Monday. Co-sponsored by SZ-based Haitian Publishing House and Beijing-based Xishu E-commerce Ltd, this series of reading and writing activities has received over 1000 contributions from primary, high school and university students as well as young soldiers.
Cui Xiaoxiao of Wuhan Foreign Languages School and eight others were awarded for their creative writing and five readers were chosen as lucky readers. The award ceremony was held on top of Lotus Hill in Shenzhen.
New semester
STUDENTS of the 90-odd high schools in SZ returned to class this week after their winter holiday. Yang Bosheng, director of the municipal education bureau, inspected Meishan Middle School and several others on the first day of the new semester.
Next Monday, Thursday, and the week after next will respectively see the reopening of primary schools, junior colleges and Shenzhen University.
Officials clear things up
OFFICIALS from the Ministry of Education recently pointed out that reports of the memorizing item to be added in the Chinese test of this year's National Entrance Exams was just a conjecture by some teaching experts. The official exam guidance will be published towards the end of February.
