Why fuss about hair?
|
SINCE my second year in high school, my hair has been short. Sometimes, it is as short as a boy's hair, sometimes longer, but never long enough to reach my shoulder. The reason I keep it cut short was quite simple - to save as much time as possible. No more trouble combing it in the morning. It also keeps me free from keeping up with the latest fashion.
From time to time, to do find myself looking at the long black hair of other girls. What a competitive edge that beautiful long hair has given its owner in this world crowded with girls yearning to be called beautiful!
During my four years in college, the fierce competition with the best students from all over the country did not allow me sufficient time for my hair. Thus, it was still short -- very short. Yet I was totally convinced that this hairstyle fit right into my temperament.
I still remember the words of my hairdresser the last time I stepped into a beauty salon. "You cannot possibly go anywhere with this hair on your head..." he exclaimed with a mocking air. "Well, I did. I even went to some interviews," I replied, smiling the rest of his words away.
